A Different Approach To Speech Therapy.

Our Mission
At SPEAK STL, our goal is to empower individuals by providing personalized 1:1 support and building the confidence they need to advocate for themselves. We are dedicated to fostering independence and ensuring every voice is heard.
What is AAC, and Why is it Important?
AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication, a range of tools and strategies designed to help individuals with speech or language difficulties communicate effectively. AAC can be as simple as hand gestures or picture boards, or as advanced as speech-generating devices and apps.
AAC is not just a tool—it’s a lifeline that opens doors to opportunities, inclusion, and a better quality of life for individuals with communication challenges.
What Is Voice Banking?
Voice banking is a process that allows individuals to preserve their unique voice by recording and storing speech samples for future use. This technology is especially valuable for people at risk of losing their natural ability to speak due to conditions like ALS, strokes, or other degenerative diseases.
How Voice Banking Works
1. Recording Voice Samples: The individual records a set of phrases and sentences using specialized software.
2. Creating a Digital Voice: The software analyzes these recordings to create a synthetic version of the individual’s voice.
3. Integration with AAC Devices: The digitally created voice can then be used with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices or apps, allowing the individual to communicate using their own voice.
